Clockwork

10.24am 24 Jan 2006 Tuesday

First, it was hard to believe that 2006 is here. Now it's hard to believe that we're still stuck in January and Spring Break, summer hols, all the other good stuff, are still so far away. Speaking of which, it might be a good idea to google for Spring Break now...

Internship - University of Houston

University of Houston

Looks very interesting and very good! Will update more later.

Internship - Resume, Letters of Recommendation, etc

Letters of Recommendation

- Check all the deadlines.
- Update my resume.
- Get a list of people I can ask to write a letter.
- Prepare information packet.

Internship - Virginia Commonwealth University

Virginia Commonwealth University

The first thing that hits me is the $1200 course fee, but I assume there will be more expensive ones to come. Seems pretty easy to get in (a couple recommendations, achieveable GPA..), but it's a full year course. Not particularly impressed nor unimpressed.

Internship - U of Wisconsin Madison

University of Wisconsin - Madison

More than 520 hours of paid clinical and food service work!?!?! Sigh... I only have like, 100 hours max... Should I go back to THH and work? This is not good.

Having said that, they have a very good website, very detailed description of the internship, be it in terms of requirements or curriculum. The website was also really user-friendly/ well designed. hmm. I actually know someone studying there too..

In a stupor

12.17am 6 Jan 2006 Friday

It's the first time of the year, second time of my life that I've been drunk. It's not a pleasant state of mind to be in because you're stuck between consciousness and an altered state of consciousness (ie, the drunken state).

We had a huge fight earlier today and I'm really not in the mood for a compromise or forgiving, hence the standoff even at midnight. It's a little odd to be blogging from the hotel lobby at midnight but it's definitely preferable to tossing and turning on the bed. Of course, the fatigue that was absent when I tried to sleep in the cosy bed is now in full force, but I'll try to write something coherent before I succuumb to Mr. Sandman.

The winds outside are howling. Our hotel room faces the Nord See (North Sea) which can be rather turbulent at this time of the year. This isn't exactly the warmest or most comfortable place to be in winter, but then again, there's nothing called too cold, only that you're not well dressed enough for the weather.

A little more surfing and I think I should be ready for bed. The odd placement of y and z on the German keyboard is actually becoming such a second nature, I think I'll be having problems readjusting to the standard QWERTY keyboard.

Sleep beckons.....
